However, in clinical practice, an LDH test is rarely ordered on its own. What should the normal LDH level be?

Therefore, any additional tests should be selected by your doctor according to your symptoms, physical examination findings, and other laboratory results.

Your doctor may use the following additional tests to identify the underlying cause of the elevated LDH level:

  • Complete blood count and peripheral blood smear: These tests examine the general condition of your blood cells and help determine whether you have anaemia, an underlying infection, or an abnormality involving the blood cells.
